Ninebot / Segway
Ninebot was founded in Beijing in 2012. In April 2015, the acquisition of Segway created one of the most recognized names in personal transportation. But in the EUC world, that recognition did not translate into long-term presence in the modern market.
The Z10 - iconic and complicated
The Ninebot One Z10 is a legend. Wide tire, unique ride feel, distinctive look. It has cult status. It also has documented BMS issues, “vampire drain” (battery draining while off), and a support/parts situation that’s increasingly difficult. Riders who love the Z10 really love it. But maintaining one in 2026 requires dedication.
Current status
This is exactly where the old profile was too hesitant. Everything points to Segway-Ninebot having effectively exited the EUC market. The Z10 from 2018 was the last serious model, and no successor has appeared in more than eight years. Current launches focus on kickscooters, e-bikes, dirt bikes, and robotics, not EUCs.
The One S2 should not be framed as an actively regional product either. It is discontinued from the official catalog and now shows up mostly as new-old-stock, refurbished inventory, or stray marketplace listings. In practice, Ninebot/Segway in EUC is a legacy brand, not an active manufacturer.

Historical context
It is worth remembering that Ninebot really mattered to the category once. The lineage included the One C/C+, One E, One E+, One S1, One S2, One A1, and later the Z6/Z8/Z10 series. The Z10 stood out with an 18-inch wheel and a very wide 4.1-inch tubeless tire, which is a big part of why it still has cult status.
555 take
If you want a Z10, know what you’re getting into: a unique ride experience with legacy hardware, problematic BMS history, and limited support. For new riders looking at a first wheel, the active manufacturers offer more current technology, better parts access, and living communities. Ninebot/Segway in EUC is history worth knowing, not a recommendation worth making.
