Oscillation that appears at higher speeds - a feedback loop between rider tension and wheel correction.

Speed wobble

Wobble that kicks in at higher speeds: lateral oscillation amplified by speed, tension, and overcorrection.

Why speed matters

At low speed, a wobble is annoying but controllable. At high speed, the oscillation frequency increases, your reaction time stays the same, and each correction overshoots further. The feedback loop tightens.

How to survive it

Do not brake hard. Do not jump off. Relax your legs, bend your knees, and decelerate gradually. If you can initiate a gentle carve, do it - controlled weaving replaces chaotic oscillation with a pattern you command.

Prevention

Ride with relaxed legs always, not just when wobbles start. Spiked pedals help maintain foot position. Power pads give you lateral stability. And the simplest fix: ride within a speed range where you’re comfortable and in control.

555 take

Speed wobbles are scary but survivable if you don’t panic. The riders who crash from wobbles are the ones who stiffen up or bail at speed. Relax. Decelerate. Ride it out. The power pads guide helps with the setup side, and find your cruise speed helps with the rider side.
